Dabbing has quickly become one of the most popular ways to consume cannabis, offering powerful effects and intense flavors. But if you’re new to dabs, it can seem a little intimidating. This guide will break down what dabs are, how to use them, and what you need to get started.

What Are Dabs?

Dabs are highly concentrated cannabis extracts, also known as concentrates. Unlike traditional flower, dabs contain a much higher percentage of THC, often ranging from 60% to over 90%.

Some of the most common types include:

  • Wax – Soft, sticky, and easy to handle.

  • Shatter – Glass-like and breaks into pieces when handled.

  • Live Resin – High terpene content for better flavor.

  • Rosin – Solventless and made with heat and pressure.

What Do You Need to Dab?

To enjoy dabs, you’ll need a few key tools:

  • Dab Rig – A glass piece similar to a bong but designed for concentrates.

  • Torch – Used to heat the nail or banger.

  • Banger/Nail – The part that gets heated for vaporization.

  • Dab Tool – Helps you scoop and place your dab.

  • Carb Cap – Controls airflow and improves vaporization.

If you prefer a more user-friendly method, an electric dab rig (e-rig) or a dab pen removes the

need for torches and nails.

How to Dab

  1. Heat the Nail/Banger – Use your torch to heat it until it's red-hot, then let it cool slightly (about 30-45 seconds).

  2. Apply the Dab – Use your dab tool to place a small amount of concentrate into the banger.

  3. Inhale Slowly – As it vaporizes, take a slow inhale while covering the banger with a carb cap.

  4. Exhale & Enjoy – Dabs hit fast and strong, so take it easy, especially if you’re new!

Dabbing Tips for Beginners

  • Start small—concentrates are potent!

  • Keep your rig clean for the best flavor.

  • Experiment with different types of concentrates to find what you like.
